POEMS, RHYMES, AND STORIES

Dear 4C
by Miss Campbell

Miss Campbell just thought she should let you know
Your hard work this week has made her heart glow.
The figurative language was tricky at times
But you've learned about patterns of rhythm and rhymes.
We've looked at some narratives like the Owl and the Pussy
And Miss Campbell's favourite: Dad, Cat and Tree.
There've been so many poems you've read and you've written
She feels really pleased she's teaching in Britain!

College
by Kristen
Age 10

Your brain must be full of knowledge
If you have the chance to go to college.

Sing out a song about the ABCs,
And choose what kind of person you want to be.

But if you don’t turn in your homework when it’s due,
You’ll sure have a lot of explaining to do.

So when you go to college, study and get good grades too,
You will come out happy and smart, and that is marked true.

Cancer
by Heather

The sun rises
the sun sets
I'm still here
but my life's on jets
I have cancer
no hope no cure
my family cries
my dad won't answer
I'll look down
but you'll be wearing a frown
my time is up
my life is done
I'll be in your heart
and in your mind
please don't cry
please don't worry
I'm up in heaven
I'll be alright.

My Hero
by Kirra
Age 10

My hero never let me go,
In my time of need he was there for me,
He comforted me when I was lonely
He made me happy when I was sad
He helped me when I was scared
He saved my life
My Dog
My Hero
I love him

The Labyrinth
by Holly
Age 9

We enter the gate,
Walk into the maze
This is a puzzle,
We could be here for days

Do we turn left?
Or do we turn right?
We could even be here
For the rest of the night.

Oh how long have we been here
But we’ve reached the middle
Now this is the hard bit
It’s just like a riddle.

We must find the way
Of that there’s no doubt
The path led us in
But it won’t lead us out.
