A Poem for Ashley
by Shelby M. Forrest

Some kids will have the strangest pets,
like butterflies and moths.
But Ashley chose the strangest yet,
For this girl just loves sloths.

The sloth is very lazy, and
he likes to live in trees.
And he 'don't ever chew his food,'
Because he 'don't have no teeth.'

To Central or South America
Ashley would have to go,
And she could easily catch one there,
because they are so slow.

She'd like to put one in a dress
made of serape cloth.
And then she'd have a unique pet -
a Spanish-speaking sloth.
