For Cammy and Her Mom
by Shelby M. Forrest

My name is Cammy, don't call me Sammy,
Cause I am not a boy.
I am a girl with a little curl,
I am my mother's joy.

I'm just a new kid on the block
For a short time I've been here.
Cause I am only fourteen--months
Just two months over a year.

My mommy is a single Mom,
And all she has is me.
She works so very, very hard
So together we can be.

Some kind of a lady is my Mom
Kind and considerate is she
Instead of thinking of herself,
Her first thoughts are for me.

Some day I hope to show my Mom
That for her I care, too
I'll return the love that she gives me
It's the least that I can do.
