by Shelby M. Forrest For little Emily, her first grade work Quite often found her lagging A big green monster was reading, and Comprehension was a dragon. So she struggled and sweated through the year, But an understanding teacher Worked patiently and encouraged her, And at length was able to reach her. With Mrs. Hamlin's guiding hand Her student has vastly improved. Remarkable growth in her class was seen, And to second grade she was moved. Mrs. Hamlin will be missed by the kids As a teacher and as a friend. They will miss her patience and teaching skills On which they have learned to depend. Though the class she leaves for another post, The memory they have of her will be Of love and patience and care for kids. That will be her legacy. |
