The Hippopotamus:

This African animal looks and acts much like a pig. The big difference is their sizes: the hippo is huge! Much like the prehistoric brontosaurus, the hippo is much more comfortable in the water than on land. That's why this animal's name is Greek for "Water-horse".

The hippopotamus is a strange animal. It cannot let its skin dry out, and its sweat is blood-red. Hippos are normally found in large groups; sometimes these groups have as many as 100 members. At night, hippos often wander ashore to feast on the grass that grows beside the river.

Being so big and having an even bigger temper, a hippo may not be the best pet to keep in your local swimming pool!
