The Raccoon
Latin name: Procyon lotor

The raccoon is a strange animal; before eating, the raccoon rinses and scrubs its food. Raccoons do catch and eat small animals, but they also like to eat fruits and vegetables, and they can be found raiding orchards and gardens, and also rummaging through garbage cans.

The raccoon is a good example of a nocturnal animal: it is mostly active at night. During the day, the raccoon can be found asleep in its burrow in the woods. With all of its sneaking around at night, it's no wonder this animal looks so much like a masked burglar!
