Cut felt or craft foam into similar shapes, a bit larger to make a frame. Glue the felt or craft foam to the Christmas card shapes. Glue ribbon to the top to make a hanger. These can also be used as gift tags. You will need: a Christmas ball that you hang on your Christmas tree an ice cream cone glue Put glue around the edge of the ice cream cone and take the ball and stick it there. (Thanks to Kaitlan)
Paper towel or wax paper rolls (use the empty tubes) Small gift (pens, pencils, jewellery, candy, a small poster or picture, etc.) Small plastic bag or ziploc or sandwich bag Ribbon, wrapping paper, stickers Put gift in plastic bag. Roll bag small enough to fit into paper tube. If the gift is small, you can stuff the ends of the tube with tissue paper or paper towel Cut wrapping paper large enough to wrap around the roll but longer than the tube (tissue paper is easier to use) Tie the ends closed with ribbon. Ribbon can be curled or you can add stickers, or glue on small wrapped candies. Select as many Christmas story books as you want for your countdown. Write down the names of the books and put them all in a jar. Each NIGHT draw a name for the book to be read that night. If the stories are long, pick one for each WEEK. There are only 8 weeks till Christmas! |

Large balloon (blown up) Scissors Art Paste Small bucket (for paste) Newspaper Brush Paper towels Paint Glitter, sequins, lace, trim (to decorate egg) Glue String Candy (individually wrapped) Plastic wrap Tear newspaper into 1" to 1 1/2" wide strips. Mix up art paste. Step 1: Dip newspaper strip into paste. Step 2: Remove strip, using fingers to wipe off the excess paste. Step 3: Lay strip on balloon, making sure it lays flat. Continue this process until the entire balloon is covered. Let dry. (Meanwhile, cover leftover paste with plastic wrap so that it won't dry out.) Repeat steps number 1, 2, & 3. The last layer should be made with paper towels. (This makes it easier to paint over. Newsprint tends to show through the paint.) Cut a small opening near the top. Break the balloon with the scissors and remove through small opening. Have an adult poke a small hole with an ice pick at the very top. Paint and decorate with glitter, lace, trim, etc. Thread string through the small hole for hanging. Fill the Piņata Egg with candy through small opening near the top. Hang it up, allowing lots of room. Blindfold the kids and let them swing away! Mix some white glue with a small amount of water to thin the glue. Dip colored twine in the white glue and water mixture. Blow up a large balloon and wrap wet twine around the entire balloon. Hang up to dry for about 24 hours. When dry, pop the balloon. With the tail side of the balloon up, cut an opening in the side. Fill the inside bottom with Easter grass and then decorate with chicks, bunnies or Easter candies. Put a string in the top to hang up the egg.
