My Best Friend
by Rebecca
Age 15

Not long ago my best friend died.
You should have seen how much I cried.
He was the best,
I won't forget and nor will the rest.

When I was sad he made me glad,
He sometimes even made me mad.
But after all he was my friend,
He was my friend until the very end.

He is now dead.
Forever laying in a bed.
Never will I forget,
The pain I felt when I lost my best friend.

My Two Little Brothers
by Lennie
Age 12

My two little brothers climbing in a tree
I bit an apple they bit me.
I went outside to get some air
next thing I know they're pulling my hair.
My two little brothers one of a kind
drive me crazy mess up my mind.
My two little brothers I'm sending to the zoo
before they leave they say I Iove you.
They are pretty sweet in their own way
so I will keep them what the hay.

The Moon
by Freeha
Age 11

There is a big bright lamp
Hanging in the damp
Glowing only in the night
With all its might
It is white
And looks very bright
It is round
And never comes to the ground
In several cases
It occurs in many phases.

The first phase is new
And the others follow in a queue
The second phase is crescent
Which is very pleasant
The third phase is half,
Which makes you laugh
The fourth phase is gibbous
Which makes it look dangerous
This wonderful thing is called the moon
And it appears as a big round balloon.

Jasmine Plant
by Freeha
Age 11

Jasmine plant, jasmine plant
What do you want
I want the healthy air
For I am bare
I want the sunlight
To feel bright.

Jasmine plant, jasmine plant
Describe yourself
My flowers are white
And they glow in the night
I grow from stems
And my flowers are like gems
I am fully green except for my flowers
And I like the water in showers
My leaves fall in autumn
And the wind shakes my bottom
My flowers smell so good
That you admire them while passing the wood.

Jasmine plant, jasmine plant
Whom do you like
I like the raindrops
That come from the cloud shops
I like the rain
That recovers my brain
I like the sunshine
Because it makes me feel fine
I like the wind
That makes me feel determined
I like the mud and sand
Because they help me stand
I like the soil
Because it helps me uncoil
I like my flowers white
Because they make me feel light
I like my leaves green.
Because they make me feel like a queen

Jasmine plant we have a request for you
Make it come true
Please grow everyday
And give us flowers night and day.

Harshness To Plants
by Freeha
Age 11

Why people why?
Why do you lie?
About not disturbing the nature
And lessening their number
You cut the trees,
That helps you in giving breeze
They give you food
Which is extremely good
They give you showers
With sweet smelling flowers
You pollute the air
And take them out of care
You pollute the water
And the soil underwater
And when coming to crops
You sell them in shops
You stamp on the little plants
And they help you in a way you can’t
You are mean to them
And rip them from stem to stem
You take away their life
And reduce the wildlife
So people stop being harsh
And if you want to stay in the marsh.

My Mother
by Freeha
Age 11

My mother is so sweet
And she never does beat
It was her birthday
We celebrated it near the bay
My mother is a wonder
Always above not under
There are no words to describe her
Because she’s my mother
So good, so kind
And what a beautiful mind
We try to give the best thing
Even though she expects nothing
I just hope she gets the best reward
    From my dear Lord.

That Moment
by Megan
Age 11

I was surprised that they called out my name
I felt honored; I felt ashamed
Tears ran down my face as I walked to the stage
Tears of happiness; Tears of rage
The blue ribbon was held in my hand
It was a feeling I didn't understand
All these cameras flashed in my face
It was way faster than my pace
The world spinned around me
I couldn't see
Then I remembered
I won; It was me.

Patriotic Man
by Megan
Age 11

Here a man sits by a wall
Looking at a flag; so big; so tall
The man is old
The flag is too
They both tell stories; to me; to you
They were there in all the wars
When everyone cared about their score
The man was there in 45
In WW2 when things were not fine
They were there in 69
Where war raged on; ringing like a chime
Some men came up in a van
With a new flag in hand
The man looked up at the ragged flag
 His face started to sag
He looked up at the sky
It was time for him to say good-bye
Before he went to heaven
He thought of 9-11
How mean; how cruel
Could it  be true?
The man  went to his home at last
Despite his memories of the past
The flag still flies on the wall
For him who is most patriotic of all.

Everyday

Brush your teeth
Put on your clothes
Grab something to eat
Take your trip to school
Sit in your usual seat
Learn all that you can
Knowledge makes a great treat!

Strawberry Jam Under The Apple Tree
by Mary

My mother used to make us strawberry jam
Under the old Apple tree,
We'd eat it on plain white bread
And it would taste divine!

My mother used to make us strawberry jam
We'd eat and eat and eat
Until our hands grew sticky
We'd lick our fingers afterwards until they shone.

My mother used to make us strawberry jam
She made it with the fresh strawberries we picked
They were always so juicy
Ssh! We used to smuggle them in our smock pockets!

My mother used to make us strawberry jam
But the hunters cut our old apple tree down
They took it away for fire wood
We never had anymore strawberry jam.

Winter Land
by Amina
Age9

Winter, winter you make a glow
You freeze my body with the snow

Winter, winter your snow is what makes fun
So I'll play in it because you're the one

Winter, winter now you're here
It's almost like I have a fear

Winter, winter you come so fast
I'm so exited it's gonna be a blast!

Winter, winter why can't you be warm
It doesn't matter as long as there's no storm

Winter, winter now you're gone
I wish you would have gone on.

The Night Sky
by Bethany
Age 9

I love the night sky,
But it is so,so,so,so, high.
But tonight I only saw one star,
Sometimes that’s how they are.
One can go from here to there,
One can shine every where.
They never hide,
Instead shine with pride.
They go away at day,
But I do not like it that way.

A Poet
by Bethany
Age 9

      As a poet,
You have to show it.
You say you rhyme ,
But I think it is a crime.
A crime or two,
Just to listen to you.
But do you really rhyme,
Anywhere or anytime.
You say to be poet,
Believe you know it.
Try to rhyme,
Then you know it is not crime.
Describe the weather,
Do not copy me, write it however.
Write a poem whenever,
Try your best, but never say never.

Old Mother Hubbard

Old Mother Hubbard
Went To The Cupboard
To Get Her Poor Dog A Bone
But The Dog Couldn't Wait
So When Dinner Was Late
He Ordered A Pizza By Phone.

Flowers
by Erica

Gay colors it has,
Various shapes and sizes they come in
Some have aroma's as beautiful as perfume,
but others smell unpleasant.

Liquor feeds it, but also drowns it
energy is the sphere that comes out each day
In spring it is unveiled,
Bees as its loyal companions.

Its power is unbelievable,
Love it holds
They mostly attend weddings,
Even ceremonies and festivals.

It has been around for many centuries,
Funny to still be alive
For the earth is still here,
And it will still be here too.

But most of all
The spell they have on you,
Is unbreakable
For it's much more that what meets the eye.

Sophie the Cat
by Erica

Sophie the cat is very fat.
She eats all day and sleeps on a hat.
She likes to play and she likes to nap.
But most of all, she lays in my lap!

Friendship
by Vicki
Age 12

I am friendship
I’m tossed around
From person to person
Sometimes I’m hastily put to sleep
And never wake up
But other times
Someone retrieves me.

I’m very strange and very valuable
Some people understand me
But others say
“Friendship, who cares?”
I can be hurt and injured
And cry myself to sleep at night.

Understanding people care for me
They treat me like gold
For they know
The importance of friendship.

Butterflies
by Bethany
Age 9

I saw a butterfly,
And wonder how long they fly so high .
They love the sky, they're anywhere,
They're everywhere, from here to there.
I love their colors.
Green , blue, purple and red,
They have a colorful head.
I love to look,
And read a good butterfly book.

Sunshine

Sunshine, Sunshine, quiet and warm.
Always calms a raging storm.
You give me a reason to smile.
You light my every mile.
With your rays melting the winter snow.
Gently kiss the flowers to grow.
Sunshine, Sunshine, quiet and warm.
Always calms a raging storm.

Brittani
by Ashley
Age 15

Brittani is my sister,
she is also my friend.
She is there when I need
to talk.
she is there when I need
to take a walk.
She is herself,
not like other people.
She gets on my nerves
But I let her know I
still care.
She comes to me
when she has problems.
Especially ones I have been
through.
Brittani is a wonderful
sister and a friend.
And I will love
her untill the end.

Babies and Mothers
by Ashley
Age 15

Babies like their mother
They both look like one another
They like to take naps
And like to play with cats
While the mother sleeps the baby
weeps,
While the baby seeks
The mother sweeps
They are very like one another
And that is why the baby is
Glad that they
Have a wonderful
Mother!!!
This poem is to my mother and my baby sister
I love them both very
MUCH!!!!!!

Puffy the Poodle
by Lawrence

Puffy the Poodle loves bones,
but where can he get some?
Can he get some from his friend the squirrel?
No, the squirrel does not have any bones.
What about Puffy's good friend the robin,
does she have any bones?
Nope, the robin does not have any bones either?
"Where can I get some bones," Puffy thought.
Maybe I can just ask my mommy.
And so he did, he asked his mommy.
And you know what, she gave him his very own special bone ---
it was big, juicy, and hit the spot!
Oh boy was Puffy happy!
"Thanks Mom for the bone," Puffy said, "and I love you"!

My American Hero
by Nataly
Age 9

My American hero is my sister Katalina
because she helps me with my homework
she helps take care of my cat
she taught me to read in Spanish
she also helped me not to be afraid
and be brave.
that is my American hero

Hide and Seek
by Bethany
Age 9

The best place to hide,
Is the river side.
With butterflies in the air,
The sun is so shiny, there is a glare.

Hide, find a good place and I'll seek,
I'm not a good finder I'll take a week.
A week or two,
Just to find you.
It's not a lie, it's true.

But, on a good day,
The best place to hide is in the hay.
And there's a horse,
That will take you on a course.
Then he will jump so high,
In the beautiful sky,
because he loves you,
and trust me it's true.

My Toys
by Derek

My toys walk around when I am not looking.
My Father's at work and my Mother is cooking.
The good and the bad climb on my face
And when I awake they're all back in place.

Bubble Gum
by Tasha

Mary had some bubble gum,
she chewed it long and slow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
her gum was sure to go.
She brought her gum to school one day,
which was against the rule.
the teacher took her gum away,
and chewed it after school.
