  The Angry Sphere
by Brandon Douglas, Age 10

One day a new shape moved on the block.   Whenever someone looked at him he said "Look the other way!"   so they did, and when it was Halloween some kids would come and knock on his door for some candy.   He would tell them to go away!   He said it in an angry voice so no one liked him.   So everyone started calling him Angry Sphere.   His mom didn't even come to visit him.   So he moved to another neighborhood.   He said he liked it there but not for long.

He moved to 32nd street, that's where he's living right now.   It was Halloween again and the kids on that block didn't know that he was rude.   So they went and knocked on his door and he said "go away!" and they did.   Their mom and dad came over. Their names are Mr. and Mrs. Triangle.   They knocked on the door and he said "Go away!," they did, so the people on that block started calling him the Angry Sphere.

Then he moved to Washington D.C. and his house was right by the president's house. So one night he didn't know it was Halloween.   Yet again the kids came and knocked on his door, he said, " Go away !", so they did.   Everyone in Washington D.C. started calling him the Angry Sphere.

So the next day he moved to a different house.   He moved by Lake Whatcom.   He liked it a couple of years without being rude.   Halloween was coming...so kids came knocking on his door, he opened his door and said ,"Happy Halloween!!!!," and threw a basket of candy out.   So the kids jumped in the air and caught some candy and fell back down.   The rest of the candy fell on them.   They filled their pillow cases full.   They went home and grabbed another pillow case and filled that one up too.   So they were happy and so was the sphere. So more kids came and he threw more candy out and the kids did the same thing except there were more kids and more candy so everyone started to call him "The Nicest Sphere".   Christmas time came and the sphere bought everyone a present.   He said, "want to go have some cocoa and have a party?"   So they did and everyone was happy.

If the world was crazy.....
by Kathleen, Age 10

If the world was crazy, you know what I'd eat?
A large cup of pasta and maybe a sheet,
A crunchy chip, and then I might try,
Some bicycle pie or an American guy,
A nice paper gummy, and an ice ghost,
A notebook salad and some peacock toast,
That's what I'd eat if the world were crazy.

If the world was crazy, you know what I'd do?
Dig in the water and swim in dirt ewe,
You'd swim down the ocean and swim down the road,
Some dogs and cats might be wild and your pets will be toads,
In the winter it would be hot and the summer it would be hazy,
That's what I'd do if the world was crazy.

If the world was crazy, you know what I'd wear?
A dress made of pork roast, medium wear,
A necklace of lemon drops, some earrings of ice,
I'd go walking on a sidewalk of rice,
Around my wrist would be a chain of daises,
And I would be Queen, if the world was crazy.

The Lizard, Frog and Turtle
by Harvey, Age 11

There once was a lizard
Who was most like a wizard
And has two wings
Which likes to sing
His favorite word is quizzard..

There once was a green big frog
That is most like a hog
Who has a long tongue
And he's usually hung
And he barks like a real big dog.

Their once lived a green and blue turtle
And his favorite thing to do is a hurdle
And he likes to fly
Up to the sky
And he also likes to do curdles.

How I loved 2nd grade
by Molly, Age 8

I loved 2nd grade so much. My teacher was the best, she had picnics with us and even surprised us with snacks. She let us get on the computer to play games. We loved her so much we didn't want to leave her class. I hope many people enjoy her too. We got to do many things with her too and the teacher I've been talking about is Mrs. Shropshire. I like her very much, hope she does not retire.

Going to School
by Jennifer, Age 8

I like going to school
Being very cool.
I like to eat gruel
In a pool.
I like my teacher very much
Although she gives us muck.
When that last bell rings
I start thinking about other things.

Sudan
by Zeina, Age 8

Sudan is a place far away
Across the Atlantic Ocean is where we want to stay
It's a place that every one would sure not know
Oh how I wish everybody could go
It's hot there but I don't care
And my family and friends are all there
You'd probably think it's like a zoo
Some donkeys walk through right past you
Animals roam the place without a collar or leash
Like cats and dogs, sheep, goats and cows too
I hope I go next summer, don't you?
Sudan is a place you'd like to be
And so will you please come with me.

Many wish they had the relationship we do
Someone to sit and tell stories to.

you chose me to be

Beautiful
by Mony

I think I am ugly. I'll never fit in,
To everybody else I am just I a bad sin.
What do you think, will I ever fit in?
Am I really a bad sin?
''Look in the mirror, what do you see?''
"I see me, what do you mean?"
"You are beautiful whenever you want to be".
" Look in the mirror, now what do you see?"
I am beautiful, I will always be beautiful.

A Bright New Day!
by Virginia

It is a bright new day is it?
Or is it a bad old day is it?
Look outside to find a new day and
decide for yourself what day it is!
