THE MONKEY TREE - SONG
GIRAFFE
ELEPHANT
MEMORIAL DAY
A TUMMY ACHE

ELEPHANT
by Norb Walker

elephant
He is so big,
He is so strong.
Unless provoked,
Does nothing wrong.

He looks so funny,
With such big ears.
But in a parade,
Gets all the cheers.

Though huge and bulky,
He must be admired.
For his gracefulness,
And not his attire.

The smartest animal,
In all the land.
He is the leader,

Of the band.

MEMORIAL DAY

We must not forget,
Those loved ones that paid,
With their lives for a cause.
They were not afraid.

We must learn a lesson,
From the heroes they were,
Regardless of how,
What they did or where.

There are so many,
Who will never come back.
Whose lives were shortened,
Just doing their task.

Let's look up to Heaven,
And thank their souls,
To pray that all nations,
Reach for far, safer goals.

A TUMMY ACHE

I had a little,
Tummy ache.
Could it be,
From all I ate?

Could it be,
From all that fish?
Or all that food,
Stacked on my dish?

Could it be,
From all that pepper,
That I kept adding,
To make it better?

Could it be,
From all that dressing,
That I ate,
After the blessing?

I ate too fast,
Cause I couldn't wait.
That's what caused,
My tummy ache.

A GIRAFFE

A giraffe is tall,
and very lean.
He's one of the few,
Who isn't mean.

He eats his veggies,
Up in space.
So no one can,
Get in his face.

It's hard for him,
To try and kneel.
This awkward position,
Upsets his keel.

His beauty and grace,
Enhanced by the sun.
Are really shown,
When on the run.

He's one of my favorites,
In the jungle, a prize.
He must be protected,
Not to, is unwise.

THE MONKEY TREE (Poem)

A monkey tree?
You must be joking.
It's upside down?
A pun your poking.

When you look up from the ground,
As you will see.
It will fool you,
As it fooled me.

Do you believe?
It cannot be!
But there it is,
A monkey tree.

It's made for you,
It's made for me.
It's made for us,
It's a monkey tree.

THE MONKEY TREE (Song)

The monkey tree, the monkey tree.
You must see, the monkey tree.
It's just for you, it's just for me.
It's just for us, the monkey tree.

The monkey tree, the monkey tree.
The monkey tree, looks upside down.
It's strange to see, the monkey tree.
When you are looking from the ground.

The monkey tree, the monkey tree.
It will fool you, as it fooled me.
It cannot be, a monkey tree.
But there it is for you to see.

The monkey tree, the monkey tree.
Now you'll believe in the monkey tree.

(Note: If you repeat the above several times,
you will also sing the melody almost automatically.
If you pause at the commas and periods,
I'll bet you will sing the same melody that I wrote.)
